Company History - Condo 1, Inc. was founded in 1993 by real estate agents who believed that condominium owners were being woefully served by the real estate community in general. With the vast majority of agents concentrating on single-family homes, tens of thousands of condominium owners seemed to be getting a distinctly inferior level of service.

Beginning from a small office in the Port Royal Condominium in Old Town Alexandria under the tutelage of John W. Walker (Walker Real Estate), agents who specialized in the luxury high-rise buildings of Rosslyn (e.g., The Atrium and The Belvedere) formed a new corporation whose name highlighted their specialty. In just thirteen years Condo 1 has built a strong following among condominium owners in Arlington, Alexandria, Falls Church, and other areas of Northern Virginia. We also have become the most active real estate brokerage firm in several townhouse communities.

In addition, our property management division has grown from managing individual units to small commercial projects. In 2004 Condo 1 began managing condominium associations and that division of the company continues to grow rapidly.(return to top)

Personnel

Thomas K. Meyer President and Founder of Condo 1, is a licensed real estate broker who has specialized in condominium and townhouse properties since 1988. In 1991, he started what was to become our property management division.  Mr. Meyer studied at the Universität Heidelberg (Germany) and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from the University of Illinois and an MBA from the American Graduate School of International Management (Thunderbird Campus) in Glendale, Arizona. He is fluent in French and German. He currently resides in Arlington, Virginia. Son Zachary and daughter Alexandra attend Virginia Tech and James Madison University respectively. Mr. Meyer is a member and past Chairman of the Northern Virginia Association of Realtors Political Action Committee and now serves on the same committee for the entire State of Virginia. In his spare time he travels, plays tennis, writes bad science fiction stories that no one will publish and has done Zero-G cosmonaut training in Russia. He is currently trying to be one of the first private citizens to perform a suborbital flight, which worries his life insurance agent tremendously. Carlos Gonzales Mr. Gonzales arrived in the U.S. from his native Peru in 1970. He has lived in Arlington and Falls Church for 28 years, studying at Montgomery College, where he played soccer in 1973, and NOVA. He has worked in real estate since 1985 and is considered the foremost expert on Woodlake Towers Condominiums in Falls Church, where he has sold and rented many hundreds of homes. John McMillin John is Director of Property Management and REALTOR® for Condo 1, Inc. Originally from Florida Mr. McMillin has resided in Virginia since 1986. Through his experience he has over eight years in the management field, including automotive stores and Wells Fargo Guard Services. Lynn Kern Lynn Kern joined Condo 1 in March 2004. Lynn's background is very different from most realtors. She studied Fashion Design at Brooks, in Long Beach, California, graduated and came back to her childhood home of Harrisburg, Pa. Once back on the East Coast she moved to Philadelphia to enter the world of gemology. While working in the jewelry business for over 10 years she graduated from the Gemological Institute of America, Diamond Grading Course. Lynn has lived in the Rosslyn-Clarendon-Ballston Corridor for the past 10 years and originally was a client. Intrigued by the condo market and encouraged by her own successful purchases, she liked what she saw, got a Virginia. Real Estate License and the rest is history. Lynn currently does Property Management, Leasing and Sales for Condo 1, specializing in the Rosslyn-Clarendon-Ballston corridor condominium market.
